THERMAL, United States — This was the last chance for the Coppa Shell drivers to get on the podium at the exclusive Thermal track. However, it was business as usual for Mike Chen, with the Coppa Shell driver getting his second win of the weekend. Joining him on the podium was Gary Ott in 2nd and Michael Owens in 3rd. In the Coppa Shell AM class, Blake Rosser took the win, being joined on the podium by Fabian Sperman in 2nd, and Tim Duit in 3rd.

As It Happened: Thermal Coppa Shell Race 2

Mike Chen and Gary Ott just about made it through the first corner, with Ott running into the back of Chen. However, after 10 minutes of racing, Ott finally got past Chuck Whittall to regain 2nd-place, which he lost after his first lap error. If Ott wanted to win the race, he now had to chase down Chen, who was over 5 seconds down the road. For the most part, the Coppa Shell standings were the same as qualifying, but Andrew Parker was making moves, gaining three positions with just 10 minutes left in the session. Whittall’s race was in danger of getting worse with five minutes remaining, with Michael Owens chasing him down. And in the end, it was Owens who brilliantly got past his rival to claim the final spot on the podium!

As It Happened: Thermal Coppa Shell AM Race 2

Blake Rosser got the Coppa Shell AM grid underway and quickly left the rest of the pack after a clean getaway. Nicholas Hoult worked his way up to 9th in class after a poor qualifying session, which will do the novice Ferrari Challenge driver the world of good for his confidence. Jeffery Nunberg was going well at around the halfway point of the race, gaining five positions and getting himself into 10th in class. The other Jeffery on the grid, Jeffery Kiel, wasn’t having a good time, sitting at the back of the field and spinning with 14 minutes left. With less than 10 minutes of running left, it was clear that Melissa Kozyra didn’t have the race pace today, sitting down in 6th after impressing in qualifying before the race. However, the main battle was between Fabian Sperman, Tim Duit, and John Lennon. One of them had to miss a podium position, and it was Lennon who needed to make a move happen, as he was in 4th. But in the end Lennon eventually missed out on a podium after dropping down the order late in the race.

Driver of the Race: Blake Rosser (Coppa Shell AM)

Blake Rosser is the Tifosi7 driver of the race. Although Rosser had a pretty quiet weekend, Blake was dominant from start to finish and never looked in danger of losing his victory. A job well done for Rosser in the Coppa Shell AM class.
