The first races of the 2026 Ferrari Challenge Australasia season took place at Bathurst and I took the time to rate the drivers' performances.

The first round of the 2026 Ferrari Challenge Australasia championship kicked off at the Bathurst 12 Hour 2026 as one of the many exciting support series. However, there were still plenty of eyeballs watching the competitive field of Ferraris tackling one of the world's most unforgiving racetracks!

Bathurst hosted two Ferrari Challenge Australasia races, with the first taking place on Friday and Race 2 taking place on Saturday. Of course, as an avid member of the Tifosi, I made sure to get a good look at the talent, and below you’ll find my driver ratings from the opening races…

#17 Enzo Cheng (Trofeo Pirelli) - 7/10

Race 1 Qualifying: Pole. Enzo Cheng drove brilliantly, rarely giving either Antoine Gittany or Jim Pollicina a sniff of an overtaking opportunity, despite running in a conga line for the entire race. Consistent driving secured him the win in Race 1.

Race 2 Qualifying: Pole. Cheng lost two positions to Jim Pollicina and Rick Armstrong on the first lap. After ten minutes into the race, the three drivers went three-wide into turn one! Amazing racing, but it got very messy in the end with Cheng colliding with Gittany. The blame could have gone either way, but Gittany’s race was over. However, the incident also resulted in a 15-second penalty for Cheng, meaning he finished 12th overall in Race 2.

#1 Antoine Gittany (Trofeo Pirelli) - 6.5/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 2nd. Antoine Gittany fought hard against Jim Pollicina throughout the race, they switched positions at times but he eventually held on to 2nd place in Race 1. Hard, but clean racing against Pollicina, with minor contact from both.

Race 2 Qualifying: 4th. Gittany should have been on pole but got a penalty for going too fast through a yellow flagged section. Great racing with Enzo Cheng and Jim Pollicina going three-wide into turn one in the opening stages! However, the hard racing ended in tears for Gittany, as Cheng forced him onto the grass in a 50/50 move, ending his race.

#7 Jim Pollicina (Trofeo Pirelli) - 7.5/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 3rd. Jim Pollicina had Antoine Gittany and Enzo Cheng for company the whole race, and despite some minor contact with Gittany, it was brilliant racing. Antoine got the better of Pollicina in Race 1, with Jim finishing third overall.

Race 2 Qualifying: 3rd. Pollicina instantly overtook Enzo Cheng on the opening lap. The battle with Enzo Cheng and Antoine Gittany was thrilling, but Jim once again came out on top in the end, with Pollicina finishing 2nd in Race 2.

#275 Richard Moore (Trofeo Pirelli 488) - 9/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 4th. Richard Moore did an amazing job maintaining his position despite being in the Trofeo Pirelli 488 class. He battled hard against Rod Wilson and Rick Armstrong, but consistent driving at a strong pace earned him the 6th place result in Race 1. An easy win for Moore in the Trofeo Pirelli 488 class.

Race 2 Qualifying: 7th. Again, Moore battled hard against drivers in faster classes, this time against Masahiro Taguchi and Aemel Nordin in the Coppa Shell class. This time, the two faster class easily drivers got the better of Moore, but he still came home in 7th overall after Enzo Cheng’s penalty, and claimed another class win.

#127 David Trewern (Coppa Shell) - 7.5/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 5th. David Trewern did well defending against Rick Armstrong and Rod Wilson, who are both in the Trofeo Pirelli class. He kept it clean despite running closely with the two Trofeo Pirelli drivers. Trewern eventually lost both positions, but defended well considering his class. However, Trofeo Pirelli 488 driver Richard Moore shouldn't be beating him, and David lost two positions from his starting place, finishing 7th overall, but he won the Coppa Shell class.

Race 2 Qualifying: 5th. The second race was more about consistent lap times for David, as the trio behind him never really got close enough to threaten his 4th place finish and the Coppa Shell class win in Race 2.

#105 Masahiro Taguchi (Coppa Shell) - 6/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 6th. Masahiro Taguchi finished behind David Trewern in the Coppa Shell class, and Richard Moore in the lowest Trofeo Pirelli 488 class. Not a busy Race 1, and he lost two positions, coming home in eighth overall.

Race 2 Qualifying: 6th. Taguchi was in a fight against Aemel Nordin and Richard Moore for 7th overall during Race 2. Masahiro raced well throughout the competition until the safety car came out to end the race, holding off both Nordin and the lower-class Moore to secure 5th overall and 2nd in the Coppa Shell class.

#44 Rod Wilson (Trofeo Pirelli) - 6/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 7th. Rod Wilson pulled off a very sneaky move while battling against Rick Armstrong, hard but clean racing. He struggled slightly against David Trewern who is in a lower class, but once passing the 488, Wilson quickly made a gap, showing his pace advantage. Rod had a good battle against Armstrong for fourth overall, but missed out on the position right at the end of Race 1 after getting dive bombed by Rick at the last turn.

Race 2 Qualifying: 8th. Kept the car clean in Race 2, quietly making his way up the field and grabbing 3rd overall after Enzo Cheng’s penalty.

#164 Michael Walker (Coppa Shell) - 4/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 8th. A quiet Race 1 for Michael Walker. He lost one position overall and finished 9th, but third in the Coppa Shell class.

#88 Adan Sibai (Trofeo Pirelli) - 3/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 9th. Finished last in Race 1.

Race 2 Qualifying: 13th. I saw a much improved version of Adan Sibai in Race 2. He still finished near the rear of the field in a promoted 9th overall thanks to an Enzo Cheng penalty, but he looked much more competitive and made some clean overtakes. If Sibai can race like this in all of his outings this season, we should see some much better results!

#233 Ross Tomain (Trofeo Pirelli 488) - 5/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 10th. Ross Tomain had a near miss in the mountain section which could have ended his race, but he managed to keep his 488 Ferrari out of the wall. He finished where he qualified and second in class, but nowhere near Trofeo Pirelli 488 class winner Richard Moore.

Race 2 Qualifying: 10th. Ross Tomain finished 8th overall in Race 2, and once again claimed 2nd place in the Trofeo Pirelli 488. It was a quiet weekend for Ross, but he kept the car pretty clean and raced well.

#265 Stephen Coe (Trofeo Pirelli 488) - 3.5/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 11th. Stephen Coe finished 11th in Race 1 and came third in class, but couldn’t keep up with Ross Tomain and nobody in the Trofeo Pirelli 488 class was catching Richard Moore.

Race 2 Qualifying: 11th. In Race 2, Stephen Coe once again finished where he qualified. He wasn’t making any headlines out there, but he kept it clean and claimed third in the Trofeo Pirelli 488 class.

#224 Frank Italiano (Trofeo Pirelli 488) - 4/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 12th. Frank Italiano finished 13th in Race 1, but only eight seconds behind Aemel Nordin in the Coppa Shell class. Not a bad outing from the Trofeo Pirelli 488 driver.

Race 2 Qualifying: 12th. Race 2 was one to forget, Frank finished behind Stephen Coe in the same class, but both drivers could have done better this weekend.

#2 Rick Armstrong (Trofeo Pirelli) - 8/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 13th. Rick Armstrong quickly moved up the field after a poor qualifying. After some hard racing against Rod Wilson, Armstrong eventually got the position moving up to 6th. Rick finally spent even more time fighting against Wilson, but this time for fourth overall. A huge dive bomb on the last lap snatched the position away from Wilson - nicely done Rick.

Race 2 Qualifying: 2nd. A great move into turn one got Armstrong into the lead, overtaking Enzo Cheng. With all the chaos happening behind him, Armstrong’s first lap move won him Race 2.

#100 Aemel Nordin (Coppa Shell) - 4/10

Race 1 Qualifying: 14th. Aemel Nordin was involved in a collision on the opening lap, and spun to the back of the field after gaining a few positions at the start. The move was never on, coming from too far back under braking, and he caused damage to his car which needed repairs. He finished 12th in Race 1.

Race 2 Qualifying: 9th. Nordin had to battle against Richard Moore in the 488 class and Coppa Shell competitor Masahiro Taguchi for 7th overall. A much better showing in Race 2, with a good battle against Masahiro Taguchi and Richard Moore. However, with Nordin driving in the 296 Coppa Shell class, he is expected to beat Moore, who drives a 488.
