Who Is Representing Ferrari in F1 Academy 2026?
F1 Academy is the stepping stone for women formula drivers to make their name in the sport, but who is representing Ferrari in 2026?
In 2026, Scuderia Ferrari will once again have a presence on the F1 Academy grid. Last season, Maya Weug was our driver, however, this season, Alba Hurup Larsen is representing Ferrari. The 17-year-old Danish driver will continue her development within the Ferrari Driver Academy after joining in August 2025. This will be Larsen’s second season in F1 Academy after finishing seventh last year.
Although the F1 Academy system doesn’t guarantee a seat in Formula 1 or Formula 2, it can lead to some enormous opportunities in the wider motorsport community. For example, our former F1 Academy driver, Maya Weug, received a fully funded Ferrari 296 GT3 test with AF Corse in late 2025. If Alba Hurup Larsen can improve on her seventh-place F1 Academy finish from last season, then perhaps she will also move further along the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy pipeline?
Who Is Alba Hurup Larsen?
Although Alba Hurup Larsen might be a new name to many Ferrari fans, the Danish racing driver has been competing in the Formula 4 scene for a few years. In 2024, Larsen raced in the F4 Indian Championship, and in 2025 she competed in the Formula Winter Series, F1 Academy, and F4 British Championship. Earlier this year, the 17-year-old also drove alongside Niccolo Maccagnani in the UAE4 Series. Larsen is preparing for another busy season, and she will once again compete in the F4 British Championship and the F1 Academy.
The F4 British Championship is arguably a tougher contest than the F1 Academy. However, because of the F1 Academy’s close ties to Formula 1, the series offers much more exposure than the regional F4 series. Alba Hurup Larsen finished 23rd out of 36 drivers in the 2025 F4 British Championship, but in the Rookie Cup, the Danish driver finished seventh. The winner of the 2025 F4 British Championship, Fionn McLaughlin, is now set to compete in Formula 3, showing just how tough the series is. If Larsen can show promise during the 2026 F4 British Championship, then she will be well on her way to progressing up the single-seater ladder.
When it comes to the F1 Academy graduates, the most well known is Doriane Pin. Pin won the F1 Academy series in 2025, and is now set to compete in the LMP2 category in the European Le Mans Series. The French driver already had endurance racing experience before entering F1 Academy, but her recent jump to the ELMS shows that the series can be a platform for female drivers to enter the higher ranks in motorsport.
